Belje’s BeAgriFuture project was ranked the second in the category of best practices at this year’s HR Days event among 49 entered projects. The votes of the audience and the participants of the 10th HR Days, a regional human resources conference held in Rovinj this week, hailed BeAgriFuture as the best project and a true representative of good business practices in agriculture. The only project entered by Fortenova Group’s companies, BeAgriFuture is focused on the future of human resources in agriculture. BeAgriFuture is a mentorship programme that has been running in Belje for several years in collaboration with secondary schools from Baranja and Osijek, providing career guidance and scholarships for the professions of veterinary technician and butcher, which are in very short supply in the labour market. Our mentors – colleagues with a long work history and experience in Belje – have a special role in the project that prepares and trains future young professionals, passing their knowledge and skills on to the students.
Ivana Šterijev, Head of Human Resources at Belje, accepted the award with the following comment: “We are very proud of implementing this project, which has grown into a process within our organisation. The positive reaction of our managers to the entire process puts an extra emphasis on the importance of doing business sustainably, based on continuous professional growth and development. BeAgriFuture has empowered our organisational climate and culture, based on the transfer of knowledge, and we are especially pleased with our continuous collaboration with the educational institutions and the local community, through which we together shape an environment open to development and learning. We are very proud that our mentorship programme has been hailed as one of the best regional human resource practices.”
