Gold trophies for Vina Belje
31. March 2023.Vina Belje continue their success from last year, which was completed with a total of 100 medals awarded for quality. After three gold medals won at the “Mundus Vini” international competition, three new gold medals were awarded in Germany, for the Goldberg Red, the Goldberg White and the 2009 Vina Belje Premium Frankovka.
Gold medals won at the Berliner Wine Trophy competition have a special value since this is the largest wine competition in the world under the patronage of OIV (International Organisation for Vine and Wine). Marijan Knežević, head oenologist of Vina Belje, states that, “For the third year in a row, the wines that we send to the competition in Berlin are awarded gold medals by prominent judges. This shows that our wine is characterised by continuous quality, regardless of the variety and vintage. We produce exquisite wines from every harvest, and I am happy that this is confirmed by such valuable international awards. It is particularly important that awards are given to both white and red wines; this shows that our Frankovka, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are up there with our celebrated Graševina.”
The Goldberg Red and the Goldberg White represent an exclusive line of wines of the highest quality and with a unique and recognisable design, which are available only in select restaurants. The Goldberg Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Frankovka from the 2019 harvest, which reached full maturity after careful aging in oak barrels and in the bottle. The Goldberg White is a blend of Graševina, the dominant variety cultivated in Belje vineyards, and Chardonnay from the 2021 harvest. This is a dense wine with a great concentration of flavours and a pleasant crispness, which makes it a great choice for serving with haute cuisine delicacies.
The 2009 Premium Frankovka, which is the result of the first large Frankovka harvest in Belje vineyards, is a special gem in the offer of Vina Belje. This is one of the Belje wines that has received the most awards – it has won two prominent gold medals in this year alone.
