Vinceška – the feast day of Saint Vincent, patron saint of wine-growers – was traditionally held at the Vina Belje winery at Banovo Brdo in Baranja. Just like every year, Vinceška marks the start of grapevine pruning and a new viticultural year. This year’s first pruning at Belje vineyards was led by Mr. Davor Bošnjaković, director of Belje d.d., and Mr. Krešimir Milorad, director of Vina Belje. Grapevines decorated with kulen and sausages from Baranja were blessed by Stipo Marić, parish priest from Kneževi Vinogradi, in hope for abundant crop yields in the year to come.
On this occasion, the director of Belje, Davor Bošnjaković, pointed out: “A hard year, during which we faced many challenges, is behind us. Thanks to Agrokor’s extraordinary trustee, we have stabilized our business and enabled the company to proceed with work as usual. In the following year, we hope for favourable weather conditions, necessary for achieving good results in viticulture, agriculture and livestock farming”.
Vina Belje are entering the new viticultural year with many awards earned at the most prestigious national and international wine exhibitions and fairs. One of the most important awards is the silver medal awarded by Decanter for quality Graševina, Belje’s best-selling wine, representing the best price-quality ratio on the Croatian market.
